VOIP revenue to exceed $76bn by 2015
A significant uptake of voice over IP solutions around the world is predicted to take place over the coming years, Telappliant reports.
Infonetics Technology predicts a 17% rise in VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) revenue growth in the market in 2011, compared with 2010 statistics. The industry is expected to be worth $76.1 billion by 2015.
The technology firm says the residential segment continues to make up the majority of VOIP services revenue, however the real growth is in the business segment, particularly SIP trunking services and hosted VOIP and unified communication services.
Any business owner implementing VOIP can use their previous phone that was once connected to the landline. Due to the fact that a business can elect to keep their same phone numbers, this can help to eliminate any potential disruptions in service.
According to Market Watch, the number of residential and small and home office subscribers to host VOIP services is expected to grow from 179 million in 2011, to 262 million worldwide by 2015.
