LA Fitness, VW America connect with Microsoft Lync

Microsoft has signed up new customers for its Lync communications software, including LA Fitness and Volkswagen Group of America.

LA Fitness said the Microsoft communications platform should help solve some growing pains for the chain of gyms. "Some clubs were equipped with telephones only, during newer locations brought in VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) solutions. The result was an inconsistent and unpredictable communication platform that became less and less cost-effective," the company said in a statement.

LA Fitness said it considered several enterprise-level VoIP solutions, just as Cisco Systems and Avaya. However Lync offered the best value.
